The group meets Miroku, a monk with a wind tunnel hole in his hand.

The group, along with Miroku, go after a painter who is using a shard of the jewel to make his demonic paintings come to life.

After a hard battle with Sesshoumaru, a badly-injured Inu-Yasha takes the jewel shard from Kagome and forces her down the well. Kagome finds that she is unable to return back to the past.

20. The wild thief: Onigumo's secret

The group finds out about Onigumo, an injured thief who Kikyou used to take care of. Naraku sends the wolf Rouyakan after Inu-Yasha, whose injuries still haven't healed from the fight with Sesshoumaru.

21. Getting close to Naraku's secret, Kikyo's soul

Kagome finally comes back to the past, and the group finds out that Naraku, who at one time was the thief Onigumo, was the one who set Inu-Yasha and Kikyou up to kill each other 50 years ago.

22. The lost souls of the dead maidens

The group finds out that Kikyou survived her fall from the cliff, and that she is stealing dead souls in order to stay alive.

23. Kagome's voice and Kikyo's kiss

Kikyou traps Kagome and then tries to take Inu-Yasha to hell with her. Kagome's voice brings Inu-Yasha back to reality and Kikyou gets away.

24. The demon exterminator Sango's appearance

We meet Sango, who is a part of a family of demon exterminators. Her family is set up by Naraku and is killed, but Sango survives. She is told that Inu-Yasha is responsible for the death of her family.

25. Overcome Naraku's scheme

Sango confronts Inu-Yasha's group, but learns that it is Naraku who is responsible for the death of her family.

26. The secret of the Shikon is finally revealed

Sango takes the group into the cave near her village where the Shikon Jewel was created from the battle between an ancient priestess and demons.

27. The god of water who governs the Lake of Darkness

The group helps a boy who is trying to get his friend back from the Water God who is terroring their village.

28. Miroku is trapped!

Miroku accidently rips a hole in his air-rip during a fight with a demon. He leaves the group to get the help of Mushin, his old mentor, but is in trouble when demons take over Mushin's temple. Inu-Yasha and the group arrive to help, and Inu-Yasha uses the Kaze no Kizu (Cutting Wind) for the first time.

29. Sango's worry and Kohaku's life

Naraku ressurects Sango's dead brother in a scheme to get Sango to stealing Tetsusaiga from Inu-Yasha.

30. The Tetsusaiga is stolen, the final batte at Naraku's castle

Sango takes Tessaiga, but fights Naraku instead of giving it to him. Sango is badly injured when Naraku uses Kohaku against her. Inu-Yasha's group finds them and Kagome almost destroys Naraku when she shoots him with her arrow.
